Macclesfield and Hahndorf played out an entertaining 13-

Both teams were eager to resume with a mix of
nervousness which faded after the first innings.
Macclesfield started on fire and scored eight runs in the
first dig, with some great batting, stealing bases and clever
running, eventually stopped with a great catch out at left
field by Ingram.
Hahndorf started well with the bat with O’Keefe getting on
to base before a huge hit out to left field by Ingram put both
runners home, with a home run to Ingram.
Some good fielding by the Redbacks closed down the
innings with only two runs to the score sheet.
Macclesfield batted again and the first fell to a catch by
O’Keefe before Roe dug deep and sent a ball out to centre
field to get on base.
Jeffrey advanced Roe to second before the next batter fell
to a K2 by Baker.
Thomas got herself safe on first and in the throw to first,
Roe raced home to add a run to Macclesfield’s score.
Hahndorf then made a similar start in losing its first batter,
however, Fairley hit safely to centre field, followed by
O’Keefe who hit huge to right field to get Fairley home.
A terrific catch by McBeath claimed the second out before
Nicholls hit down the line, getting her to first and Ingram

Hahndorf notched up a 10-2 victory over the Hills
Combined side in the opening round of 2017.
Coen Mcleod started with the ball for the Magpies outfit
and impressed all by striking out the initial three Combined
With Hahndorf quickly at bat and Graham Klenke in charge
for the Combined team, the lead off batter was retired via a
ground out to the short stop Pat Frazer.
This brought up Albert Fairley who unloaded a ball to deep
right field, rounding all bases and putting the Magpies on
Klenke composed himself and struck out the next batter,
but walks to Matt Cooper and McLeod meant runners on
first and second before a ground out to first base retired
McLeod went back to work for Hahndorf and recorded
strike-out number four and a ground out off his own fielding
before his fifth K2 to end the Combined innings.
Michael Cooper led off with a base on balls which was
backed up by further walks to Alex Baker and James
An error scored Cooper and Baker scored on a sacrifice
fly by Mark Peressin to left field.
Fairley then recorded his second hit with a single to centre
field scoring Goslett.

Joe Harvey meant two out and a second catch to left fielder
Mitch Butler then sent the Hills team back to bat.
The top of the third dig had McLeod again record the first
out with a put out off his own fielding and the second out
came via a catch to second baser Vogt.
The combined side recorded its first hit thanks to a double
down the left field line from Frazer before McLeod chalked
up a sixth K2.
The innings was a strong one for the Combined side as a
strike-out and a ground out to second base produced two
very quick dismissals, but Baker kept the innings alive with
a good single to left field.
Two put outs by second basemen Sam Williams soon shut
the door and sent the game into the fourth dig.
Ben White started off and reached base on an error and
Tony Marden also reached on a walk.
Both White and Marden advanced the bases and scored
on some tiring pitching which led to a pitching change as
Vogt replaced McLeod with immediately impact, striking
out the first batter he faced.
Klenke then drew a walk, and with some strong pitching,
Vogt recorded his second strike-out.
Brett Atkinson then reached on an error before the side
retired after a catch to the now second basemen McLeod.
With Hahndorf having one more opportunity to produce
some offense, the Magpies didn’t disappoint when Peressin
hit a huge home run to right field to lead off the innings.
Fairley drew a walk and Vogt reached on an infield single,
while Matt Cooper doubled on an error, scoring Fairley
and trading places as McLeod also doubled on an error,
scoring Vogt and Cooper for further runs to Hahndorf.
A ground out to short stop Frazer recorded an out before
Michael Cooper singled to centre to score McLeod.
Successive strike-outs ended the innings and the
game with a 10-2 scoreline in a game which had solid
performances from all Hahndorf youngsters.
Mcleod was a standout pitcher and Klenke suggested that
he is a player of the future, toiling hard on the stripe.
Alex Fairley was given best afield with a perfect game
offensively, and Frazer was easily the Combined best,
recording the only safe hit and producing some strong
fielding at short stop.

The Magpies displayed consistency in their
batting, with safe hits to Hopton, Langford
and MacKenzie, as well as home runs to
both P. Fairley and Alex Fairley bringing in
eight runs for the Magpies.
Aaron Gilles took a catch, while a strike-
out by Klenke and a quick field by Phil
Robinson to Buddy Hauwai at first ended
the Magpies run at the plate.
The Panthers came into bat again, but the
Magpies proved too strong with a quick
three up, three down effort.
A K2 to P. Fairley and catches to Luxon and
Woolcock held the Panthers scoreless.
The Panthers demonstrated their fielding
was just as strong when the Magpies came
Klenke pitched two strike-outs to the initial
two batters before A. Fairley got on base,
followed by MacKenzie, then a safe hit from
