Trish Lindsay came into pitch for United and struck out
one Hahndorf batter.
Heading and Scharma gloved catches in the field to put
United into bat.
The last innings for the game resulted in United on fire
with the bat.
United brought in five runs for the innings with safe hits to
Riddle, Trish Lindsay, Spriggs and Scharma.
With a double bagger to Hamilton who also had a good
game with the glove as catcher.
Heading hit a home run to right field, which was the
highlight of the innings when the umpire then called time
Macclesfied Redbacks and Echunga Demons took to
Diamond 3 on Saturday in an exciting and friendly game.
Both teams played with fill ins and Macclesfield was
without its usual pitcher, thankfully Kelinda Bolt stepped
up to the task.
Echunga was first to bat and brought home Kathey Webb,
Ashlyn Kiely and Emma Leach before Macclesfield’s
Sharon Lions took a base out at second and Tracey
Wallace took a catch.
Echunga then had an auto out, due to only having eight

and push Tania Home, before Echunga shut them down.
In the third innings Echunga managed one run to Talia
Smith before Macclesfield again shut them down with
a force out to second baser Sharon Lions, a catch to
shortstop Tracey Wallace. Macclesfield answered with
three runs to Jade Wallace, Sharon Lions and Tania
In the fourth dig Macclesfield held Echunga scoreless
again with a triple play starting with a catch to Tracey
Wallace at shortstop, who then ran to third with the ball for
a force out then threw to Sharon Lions at second base for
another forced out.
Macclesfield ended the game with another three runs to
Jade Wallace Lisa Lions and Tania Nethercote, leaving the
final score at Macclesfield 14 defeating Echunga 4.
Both Hahndorf and Redsox played a competitive game of
Softball, with Hahndorf snatching victory after a later come
back from Redsox.
Redsox batted first, however, Hahndorf’s infield had an
immediate impact with a catch to King at short stop and
sharp throw from Snooks on third to Bulis on first base.

Hahndorf’s innings ended quickly with good play from

The first Innings ended with Hahndorf in the lead by 6-1.
Redsox batted again, however, once again the pitching of
Baker and in-fielding of Fairley, King and Bulis combined
to dispose of the first two Redsox batters.
Redsox settled down and Bolt hit a ball to centre field to
assist J. Megson to make it home, however, Baker who
was pitching for Hahndorf struck out the next batter,
out again a catch to Keith Goodman.
Macclesfield’s first turn at bat provided no
runs, with Echunga gaining three catches
off the first three batters by Echunga’s
right fielder Riley Karagannis, centerfielder
Andrew Hampel and pitcher Scott Paul.
In the second innings Macclesfield were
determined to stop Echunga’s runs and get
a score on the board.
Pitcher Nick Sexton dragged himself in
favour of his brother Damin Sexton.
The Redbacks managed to hold Echunga
scoreless taking a no swing strikeout, a
K2 and what should have been a tag on
Oliver Edwards by Craig Lions ended with
Edwards called out for running off the line
while trying to avoid the tag.
Macclesfield seized its opportunity to get
some runs and managed six over the plate.
Big hits way out to right field and a home
run on errors to Craig Lions.
In the third dig Echunga’s Paul Scott
was the only run over home plate, before
Macclesfield’s Pitcher-Catcher combo of
Damin Sexton and Ryan Vankaathoven
took two K2’s and a fielding play from
Craig Lions at Shortstop to first base Keith
Goodman ended Echunga’s bat.
Macclesfield also scored just on run in the
third to Matthew Lions, before Echunga’s
field got three outs.
Echunga couldn’t stage a comeback from
Macclesfield added a further four runs over
the next three innings with big hits to the
outfield including a second home run to
Craig Lions and also one to Josh Goodman.
Forced errors in the field ended the game
as Macclesfield defeated Echunga 11-3.
Both Hahndorf Magpies and Echunga
Demons played a competitive game
of softball last Saturday afternoon with
Hahndorf snatching victory in a ‘nail biter’.
The Magpies batted first and opened their
account with a run to Jim Hailstone, thanks
to a sacrifice fly to Peter Fairley.
Dylan Hopgood shut down Hahndorf with
Hahndorf started equally as strong in the
field with a great play to first by second base
Lachie Williams and two strikeouts to the
battery of Fairley and Hailstone.
In the second innings, pitcher Hopgood
was again strong striking out three Hahndorf
batters to close out the innings.
His team then delivered with the bat
scoring three runs, including a safe hit to
Hahndorf started the third innings poorly,
before Michael Cooper drew a walk and
Fairley hit a home run to right field to score
two runs for the innings.
Echunga pitcher Hopgood earned another

field with a catch to Hailstone and another
two strikeouts to pitcher Fairley.
This held Echunga scoreless, making the
score three all after three innings.
Hahndorf started strongly in the fourth
innings, with great base running.

The innings ended with Hailstone tagged
out at second.
Hahndorf were fawless in the field
achieving three up, three down despite a
safe hit to Echunga’s Aiden Richardson.
In a thrilling final innings, Hahndorf was to
score only one run thanks to a home run
down third base line to Fairley.
Hahndorf were held to one run thanks to
shortstop Marsh making the solid play at
first to achieve Echunga’s third out.
Heading into the last batting innings for
Echunga, the score was 6-3.
Jack Hopkins had a safe hit to get on base,
while Caleb Richardson was walked.
Both of these Echunga base runners
scored, whilst Fairley had a strikeout for
the second out and the third out to end

however, with a third Redsox batter out and time against

with the bat and were able to bring in four runs from their

Redsox then went scoreless for their next three at bats
as the game tightened up with some good outfield catches
and sacrifice hits from Redsox batters.
Hahndorf put its first run in the book in its third at bat with
some pressure applied to Redsox fielders creating some
errors before being closed off and not being able to score
again in the fourth or fifth at bats
Redsox came out for the sixth innings and applied batting
pressure to the game scoring seven runs as a result with
most runs being scored by follow up batters.
Hahndorf finished the innings with a catch from Dan
Waters on first base.
Hahndorf came into its sixth at bat and scored a single
through Martin Young’s hit to right field and getting around
the bases to come home on a play at first by Redsox
fielders that did not go as planned.
Hahndorf received a walk to Troy Granger getting him
on before the next batter was struck out to complete the
Redsox claimed the win 11-2 with Redsox’s pitcher and
catcher combination taking a total of 18 strike outs for the
game and Hahndorf took five catches for the game.
Hahndorf and Echunga played off in Saturday’s Division 1
men’s game at 4pm at Anembo Park.
The game started well for Echunga with lead of batter

This was followed by SO and then a -7 to Lomman, who
brought Green home for Echunga’s first run.
Lomman was put out trying to advance an extra base by a
good 2-6 play. Final out was a regulation play 4-3 .

Ernst, which yield only one run as Magpies defence shut

game, with hits to Peressin, Hopton, K. McLeod, Rattigan,
Waters and Green.
It was a strong performance by the Magpies over a
depleted Echunga side.
Division 2 men
Macclesfield Redbacks and Echunga Demons 2 took to
Diamond 4 on Saturday afternoon for an exciting match.
Echunga batted first and managed to bring two home
before they were shut down by Macclesfields fielder.
A smooth throw came from Craig Lions at shortstop to
first bases Keith Goodman for their first out.
A catch resulted to Mark Cherry in center field and third
