Last week on the Mt Barker/
Hahndorf golf course the
temperature was predicted to
be a over 35.
Eleven adventurous ladies ‘beat the
heat’ and teed off in groups of three
at 7:30am and played a nine hole
All ladies were in the cool of the
clubhouse for a morning cuppa, before
venturing on to the cinema for a mid-
morning movie followed by a luncheon.
This is how captain Pat Page looked
after her “chicks” and kept them from
possible wilting in extreme temperatures.
Local business trader and keen
golfer, Janice O’Connor won the day’s
competition with 19 Stableford points,
closely followed by our newest lady
member in Jodie McDonald, who won
on a count back from Marg Bessen,
both on 18 points.
McDonald parred the eighth hole
and was rewarded with four for four

Marie Fenwick, celebrating her 50th
Golden Wedding Anniversary recently,
finished next best with 17-points, on a

Golfing story of the day went to Janice

she recently holidayed in Melbourne
and did a spot of shopping in the big
Her purchases pushed her over the
aircraft weight limit so she decided to
“condense down” her packages.
Ladies Beat the Heat
Upon arriving back at Mt Barker and
proudly displaying her shopping items
to her husband, it was noted a new
Puma golf shoe was missing.
Lost in the condensing down!
Janice now has to “give away”
one white size 8 1⁄2 right shoe, and
someone in the Melbourne airport
has the other shoes - a new white
size 8 1⁄2 left shoe!
A costly trip as another pair of shoes
were purchased locally.

kick started the 2016 birthdays,
followed by Susie Kerr and Meredith
One of our most charming lady
golfers in Julie Choat celebrated her
60th Birthday with a luncheon at a
Hills hotel venue.
Leading up to this earlier in the week
they enjoyed a round of golf and a
rare and wonderful opportunity of
swimming with dolphins off Glenelg
Just goes to show, most of our
golfers are versatile and intrepid to
try other experiences.
Upcoming events include Australia
Day Holiday Pro Shop Competition
January 26 and second round Mabs

Happy New Year to all and make
every putt count in the year 2016.
